Short Bio

Early 2004, I joined the Communication Systems Group at ETHZ in Zurich, Switzerland as a Senior Research Assistant where I focus my work on self-organizing networks. From 2000 to 2003 I co-founded and worked in a startup company in the field of overlay networks and content distribution. Late 2003, we sold our company to an american competitor.

I received my Ph.D. from INRIA (Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique) Sophia Antipolis where I worked with Jean Bolot and Christophe Diot in the RODEO Project. During my thesis, I worked on performance evaluation of Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms in the Internet. Specifically, we proposed and evaluated a 1-bit traffic differentiation scheme, a predecessor of the Differentiated Services framework. After my thesis, I joined the IP research group at Sprintlabs in Burlingame, CA. There, I worked on Active Queue Management (AQM) as an alternative to the more and more complex diff-serv framework.
